Association Joins Gov. and Legislative Leaders for Maryland Bill Signings

The MD|DC Credit Union Association joined Governor Wes Moore and legislative leaders last week for the signing of three important bills the Association supported and helped advance.

Senate President Bill Ferguson, Speaker of the House Joseline Peña-Melnyk, and the Governor signed legislation that supports innovation, consumer protection, and the continued strength of Maryland's credit union movement. The legislation will:

• Modernize Maryland's credit union merger statute to better support the evolving needs of credit unions and their members.
• Establish a regulatory framework for payment stablecoin service institutions, positioning Maryland at the forefront of responsible financial innovation.
• Strengthen financial institutions' ability to act in good faith when there is a reasonable belief that a senior is being financially exploited.
