MAYOR'S UPDATES

New Superintendent: This week, the Stamford Board of Education named Dr. Adrian Talley the new Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1. Dr. Talley comes from Indian Prairie School District in Illinois, where he oversaw a high-performing district serving more than 26,000 students. He brings a wealth of executive experience across curriculum and instruction, community engagement, and student services. I look forward to working with Dr. Talley to deliver for our students and educators.

New York Mets Ferry Service: Calling all New York Mets fans! In partnership with Seastreak, the ferry will run for 24 games throughout the season, departing from the dock behind the Wheel Restaurant at the Village and arriving at World's Fair Marina in Queens. Read more here.

Beach Permits: Beach permits are now available for purchase online, by mail, or in person at the Cashiering and Permitting Department. Residents are encouraged to buy their permits early rather than wait until beach season! Permits are required beginning on May 1st through September 30th. Click here to purchase.

Apply for a Special Events Permit: To reserve a pavilion or host events at city parks click here.

Walk In Permitting: Walk-in Permitting occurs weekly every Wednesday from 8:30 - 10:30 am. Walk-in permitting sessions take place on the 7th floor of the Stamford Government Center. For more information, visit here

Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony: The Stamford Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 17th at 12:00 pm. Kickoff will start at the Stamford Police Department Headquarters and finish at Veterans Memorial Park. See the flyer below for more information.

Stamp Out Hunger: Stamford residents are encouraged to participate in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 9th. Simply leave a bag of nonperishable food by your mailbox in the morning and your letter carrier will take care of the rest. Your contribution will directly support The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County & Person to Person. To learn more, please click here.

Old Long Ridge Road Bridge: After a visual inspection of the Old Long Ridge Road Bridge, just south of Hunting Ridge Road, city engineers have implemented a temporary one-way traffic pattern, effective immediately. The City will share further updates as they become available.

Mill Road Bridge: The Mill Road bridge near Old Long Ridge Road is open to one lane vehicular traffic. Residents can click here for updates.
