30-Day Notification of Storm Drain Work Along Oak Street

Alameda County - Caltrans will begin nighttime storm drain replacement work along Oak Street between 3rd Street and 9th Street in Oakland. The project includes removing aging storm drain infrastructure and installing a new 48-inch storm drain system to improve drainage capacity, reduce the risk of flooding, and enhance the long-term reliability of the roadway. To minimize impacts on daytime traffic and nearby businesses, work will occur overnight and progress block-by-block. Traffic control measures and detours will be in place to protect workers and motorists during construction.

Location

  • Oak St. from 3rd St through 9th St
  • Work to occur block-by-block as follows: 3rd St to 4th St, 4th St to 5th St, etc.

Closure Schedule

  • Date TBD: separate notification will be provided in advance
  • 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM OR,
  • 9:00AM - 4:00PM (may be required due to tides)

Detour & Access Changes

  • Residents & Businesses urged to avoid Oak St. during nighttime work
  • Detour signs will be in place directing traffic to Madison St/Jackson Street
