PHILADELPHIA, PA - Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) today announced that Members of Congress will gather at Independence Hall, located in Pennsylvania's Second Congressional District, on July 2, 2026, for a ceremonial event as part of America250's national commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. Boyle has worked for years to bring this historic gathering to Philadelphia for America's semiquincentennial celebration.
"Exactly two years ago I launched this effort to bring Members of Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, back to the place where it all began 250 years ago: Independence Hall," said Congressman Boyle. "I am very proud and excited this historic and special event is happening. It will be a unifying moment for the Congress and our country, at a time when we need it most."
Members of Congress from across the country will travel to the birthplace of American democracy to mark the nation's 250th birthday. The gathering will take place exactly 250 years to the day that the Second Continental Congress voted for American independence. It will serve as one of the signature moments of the semiquincentennial celebration and highlight Philadelphia's central role in America's founding story.
Additional details regarding participants and programming will be announced at a later date.
