IIM Ahmedabad Revamps PGP Shortlisting for CAT 2026: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) has revised its admission criteria for the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) 2027-29 batch. As per the updated policy, a classification of undergraduate qualifications are classified into 18 broad disciplines, and specifies revised graduation score ratings. The institute has also retained three gender diversity points for non-male candidates applying through the CAT 2026 admission process.

IIM Ahmedabad Introduces Discipline-Wise Scoring

• 18 broad disciplines include Engineering and Technology, Computer Science and Information Technology, Commerce, Accounting and Finance, Economics, Agriculture and Allied Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Law, Management, Mathematics, Pure Sciences, Professional Courses, Fashion and Design, Journalism and Media, Architecture and Planning, and Hospitality and Food Sciences, Along With An 'Others' Category.
• The revised approach aims to account for differences in applicants' undergraduate academic backgrounds while calculating composite scores for shortlisting candidates.
• The composite scores will be used to shortlist candidates for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI).
• Applicants' undergraduate marks will be converted into rating points on a scale ranging from one to 10, depending on their percentage scores.

Three Gender Diversity Points Retained

IIM Ahmedabad will continue awarding three additional points to non-male candidates under its gender diversity component for CAT 2026 admissions.

• No points for male candidates under this component.
• Gender diversity remains a selection factor.
• CAT 2026 score carries 65% weightage.
• Application Rating accounts for 35%, reflecting academic records and other specified profile components.

CAT 2026 Cut-Offs and Eligibility Criteria

Here are the CAT 2026 cutoffs and eligibility criteria:

• Candidates should secure an overall CAT 2026 percentile of 95, with a minimum of 85 percentile in each section.
• Need to obtain an overall percentile of at least 90, 85, and 75 for NC-OBC, SC, and ST candidates, respectively.
• General category applicants typically need at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA in their bachelor's degree. Note that the minimum qualifying marks for the SC, ST, and PwD candidates are 45%.
