Aspirus Wausau Hospital Earns Joint Commission’s Outcomes-Driven Perinatal Care Certification

Aspirus Wausau Hospital (AWH) has been awarded The Joint Commission's Outcomes-Driven Perinatal Care Certification, recognizing the hospital's commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to mothers and newborns.

Aspirus Wausau Hospital achieved the certification as a Tier 1 organization, the highest of three performance tiers, reflecting exceptional clinical outcomes and a steadfast commitment to patient safety throughout the childbirth experience.

The certification recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in perinatal care using evidence-based practices, quality improvement initiatives, and strong outcome measures for mothers and infants.

"This certification is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and collaboration of our multidisciplinary perinatal care team," said Pamela Warnke, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, Director of Aspirus Central Region Quality and Patient Safety. "Every day, our physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, therapists, and support staff work together to ensure mothers and babies receive the safest, highest-quality care possible. Achieving Tier 1 recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to exceptional outcomes and an outstanding patient experience."

Perinatal care encompasses the care provided during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period. The Joint Commission's Outcomes-Driven Perinatal Care Certification evaluates organizations on their ability to deliver evidence-based care while achieving measurable outcomes that improve the health and well-being of both mothers and newborns.

"This achievement highlights the outstanding care our teams provide and reinforces Aspirus' commitment to advancing quality and patient safety," Warnke added. "Families can feel confident knowing they are receiving nationally recognized care close to home."

While the certification reflects measured clinical outcomes, its impact is ultimately seen in the mothers, babies, and families who rely on high-quality care during one of life's most important moments.
