BEAVERTON, OR. - July 8, 2026 - As senior homelessness continues to rise nationally, leaders from federal, state, regional and local governments joined Community Partners for Affordable Housing (CPAH) today to break ground on Meadowlark Place, a new six-story affordable housing community for adults age 55 and older.
Meadowlark Place is located at the former Beaverton Community Center site, across from the library and near a senior recreation center. The community will offer 104 studio and one-bedroom homes for older adults earning up to 30% and 50% of the area median income. Thirty homes will provide intensive support services for seniors exiting homelessness in partnership with the Native American Rehabilitation Association. Ten homes will be reserved for households aging out of farmworker housing with support from Bienestar.
The development is funded through a mix of public and private sources, including $10.7 million dollars from the voter-approved Metro Affordable Housing Bond, awarded by the City of Beaverton. Washington County is contributing 19 Project-Based Vouchers through its Housing Authority, $1.2 million dollars in federal HOME funds, and $500,000 dollars in local Housing Production Opportunity Funds via the Office of Community Development.
CPAH will provide onsite services, including its Thriving in Place senior wellness program. The building's ground floor will include a Head Start early learning center supported by Community Action, with capacity for 54 children, three classrooms, and an outdoor play area.
"Meadowlark Place reflects the best of the Oregon Way," shared Washington County Chair Kathryn Harrington. "Across jurisdictions, we come together and lift up solutions that strengthen our communities. Housing is the building block of a prosperous and just society, and we are proud to support the City of Beaverton as this new home for seniors comes to life."
