Albany County Legislature Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham said: "Each of these banners is an enduring symbol of our gratitude for the legacy of sacrifice, courage, and unwavering service of these veterans. They remind us that the freedoms we cherish were not freely given - they were earned through their dedication. Each banner tells a story - a story of someone who answered the call and left behind families, communities, and dreams to serve a cause greater than themselves. We honor them all today, not only as soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines, but as neighbors, parents, sons, and daughters." Albany County Legislature Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham said: "As Thanksgiving and the holiday season begin, and we celebrate what we are so blessed to have and hold, today's ceremony is an opportunity to understand how all of this is possible. Without the sacrifices of the people on these banners, we would not be here today. Plain and simple." Albany County Legislature Democratic Majority Leader Dennis Feeney said: "Honoring our veterans is both a moral and civic responsibility. Today's recognition reflects the Legislature's ongoing commitment to those whose service laid the foundation for our freedoms. These banners are a visible reminder that the strength of Albany County is built on the courage and sacrifice of our veterans and their families, and our shared obligation to preserve their stories for generations to come." Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy said: "These banners serve as a lasting reminder of the courage and commitment shown by our local Veterans. As we unveil this second wave of honorees, our community once again comes together to recognize those whose service has strengthened both our nation and Albany County. This project is a fitting tribute that highlights the bravery and dedication of our military personnel, both past and present."Return to full list >>
