CMSAF Wolfe assesses Total Force readiness, bi-national homeland defense at NORAD and USNORTHCOM

PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. - Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force David R. Wolfe visited the headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Sept. 28 to engage with the joint force and assess operational readiness in support of the homeland defense mission.

Hosted by Chief Master Sgt. John Storms, NORAD and USNORTHCOM command senior enlisted leader, the visit focused on the critical role command service members play in maintaining round-the-clock aerospace warning, aerospace control, and maritime warning.

Upon arrival, Wolfe conducted an office call with Storms to discuss joint enlisted force development, talent management, and the demands placed on service members across modern multi-domain operational environments.

Wolfe also received an operational overview from senior enlisted leaders representing the commands' intelligence, operations, logistics, communications, and binational planning divisions. The briefing addressed all-domain awareness initiatives, Arctic campaigning priorities, and the tactical integration of Airmen across distributed defense echelons.

"There are people and organizations around the world who want to disrupt our way of life," said Wolfe. "Homeland defense starts long before a threat reaches us. Airmen and service members at NORAD and USNORTHCOM build the awareness leaders need to make informed decisions and help defend North America."

Before departing, Wolfe recognized two NORAD and USNORTHCOM personnel nominated for sustained operational excellence: Master Sgt. Adam Hall, assigned to the Directorate of Manpower and Personnel, and Staff Sgt. Colten Tessness, assigned to the Public Affairs Office.
