Loyola University will host a special advance screening of "Man on the Run," the acclaimed documentary exploring Paul McCartney's life and creative evolution following the breakup of The Beatles, on Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium, on the Loyola campus.
The screening is in partnership with the New Orleans Film Society (NOFS) and takes place ahead of the film's theatrical release on Feb. 19 and its streaming release on Amazon Prime Video on Feb. 27.
A conversation will follow the screening with Scott Rodger, McCartney's longtime manager and a producer on the film, and Jonathan McHugh, Hilton-Baldridge Eminent Scholar and Chair in Music Industry Studies in the School of Music and Theatre Professions at Loyola and an NOFS board member.
The discussion will offer firsthand insight into the creative risks, professional relationships and enduring legacy behind this transformative era in McCartney's career, said Dodd Loomis, Executive Director of the New Orleans Film Society. In addition, this exclusive presentation reinforces the society's commitment to making major cinematic works and film industry leaders accessible to New Orleanians, he said.
"An advance screening like this gives our students a rare cultural experience right here on campus," McHugh said. "At Loyola, we're committed to providing an education that extends beyond the classroom, and events like this are a meaningful part of that experience. We always want to connect students with influential art, real-world storytelling and the broader cultural conversations that shape our world."
Directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville, "Man on the Run" offers an intimate portrait of McCartney's artistic rebirth through the formation of Wings with Linda McCartney, drawing from rare archival footage, unreleased music and unprecedented behind the scenes access to one of the most pivotal periods in modern music history.
Neville, whose celebrated body of work includes "20 Feet from Stardom" and "Won't You Be My Neighbor," brings his signature blend of rigorous storytelling and emotional depth to this landmark documentary.
"We are thrilled to present "Man on the Run" to New Orleans audiences before its theatrical and streaming release dates," Loomis said. "Partnering once again with Loyola University allows us to reach students, artists and film lovers in a dynamic shared space, and we are proud to continue building that relationship through screenings that inspire conversation, curiosity and connection."
This screening is presented as part of NOFS/365, the New Orleans Film Society's year round programming initiative dedicated to bringing distinctive, artist driven film experiences to the city beyond the traditional festival calendar. Launched in July 2025, NOFS/365 has quickly become a cornerstone of the organization's work, delivering a steady stream of one of a kind screenings, live conversations, educational programs, and community collaborations that reach new audiences across New Orleans.
Tickets to the screening and conversation are limited, so advance registration is required. Tickets are free for NOFS members and Loyola University students, and $8 for the general public. To RSVP or purchase tickets, visit https://nofs365.eventive.org/schedule.
