Deputy Chairperson received H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, former President of Tanzania

H.E Amb. Selma Malika Haddadi received on 16 June 2026, on behalf of H.E Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission; H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania and High Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.

A discussion on a wide array of issues was held on H.E Kikwete's mandate, lauding his critical role in the AU's efforts to silence the guns and promote Peace and political stability in the country.

Former President Jakaya Kikwete stressed that his endeavour in South Sudan is comprehensive with the view to addressing the challenges posed to the youngest African Nation.

H.E. the Deputy Chairperson emphasized the crucial role of the AU through the Office of the High Representative to support the transition process in South Sudan including preparations towards the conduct of elections, the drafting of a new constitution, the unification of forces and transitional justice. H.E the DCP wished him a successful mission ahead.
