ANAHEIM, CA - U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) presented a check for $1,000,000 in federal funding to the City of Anaheim for the Boysen Park Improvements Project. Rep. Correa also joined the community for the groundbreaking on the park's new skate park.
"I grew up playing Little League at Boysen. And I watched my sons play Little League at Boysen as well. Boysen Park made a difference in my life, the lives of my friends, and the lives of countless others. This investment of our tax dollars will ensure that Boysen continues to be a safe place for families to come and enjoy evenings and weekends," said Rep. Correa. "This funding will be used to expand Boysen Park, refresh what is already there, and make sure it is accessible and safe for families."
Funding will be used to develop an additional 2.5 acres of Boysen Park on an adjacent parcel of land owned by the city. It will add new recreational and support amenities to the existing park, refresh existing amenities, and improve accessibility and safety by providing updated equipment and facilities, such as improved lighting, accessible sidewalks, and heat island mitigating landscaping.
"Anaheim has a unique place in skateboarding history, from the early days of the sport to the generations of skaters who continue to enjoy it today," said Mayor Ashleigh Aitken. "Adding our ninth city skate park carries that history forward while investing in spaces that bring people together across Anaheim."
"Boysen Park has been part of this neighborhood for generations, and our community has been clear about wanting to see new life and investment here," said Council Member Norma Campos Kurtz. "This skate park is the first of many planned improvements that will give our families and neighbors even more ways to enjoy this park."
Federal funding for the Boysen Park Improvements Project was secured by Rep. Correa as part of the FY26 appropriations process.
