Officers searching for escapee from Lincoln Correctional Center

Corrections and law enforcement officers are searching for Roy Burgess (#0900200) who escaped this afternoon from Lincoln Correctional Center, a minimum-security prison in Lincolnton.

Burgess, 42, is believed to be in the Dallas or Gastonia area of Gaston County and may be seeking help from friends or relatives. Burgess was serving a one-to-two-year sentence for larceny, but has a record of low-level felonies going back nearly 20 years.

Burgess is a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall with brown hair, blue eyes, a beard and weighs about 180 lbs. He has the letters BNG tattooed on his neck, along with other tattoos on his hands and arms. He may be bleeding from cuts to his body.
