Nebraska Releases 2025 Annual Energy Report, Highlighting Affordability and Grid Resilience Successes

The Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) released its 2025 Annual State Energy Report, detailing the agency's ongoing work to make energy more efficient, reliable, and affordable for Nebraskans. Through programs like the U.S. State Energy Program (SEP) and Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), DWEE helped families, schools, and communities reduce energy use, lower costs, and strengthen the reliability of Nebraska's energy systems. Federal funding and partnerships have enabled DWEE to continue and expand these efforts statewide.

Key topics in the report include from the report include: residential weatherization successes, new energy efficiency and savings through the Dollar and Energy Saving Loans (DESL) Program, and $15.6 million in grid resilience grant funding distributed to 14 public utilities through the POWER Hazard Hardening program to modernize transmission and distribution infrastructure across Nebraska communities.

Please note that on July 1, 2025, the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy merged with Nebraska Department of Natural Resources to form the Department of Water, Energy and Environment.
