WATCH – Rep. Crane Questions Minnesota Lawmakers on Historic Fraud Allegations
This morning, Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) participated in a House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing on fraud and misuse of federal funds in Minnesota.
The hearing followed reporting by citizen journalist Nick Shirley, who documented extensive fraud involving members of the Minnesota Somali community.
During the hearing, Rep. Crane questioned Minnesota lawmakers who testified that numerous organizations funneled stolen federal tax dollars to politicians and funded the Al-Shabaab terrorist network in Somalia.
The lawmakers also described prior knowledge of the abuse by state executive officials and detailed coordinated efforts to target whistleblowers.
