22Kill Ride rumbles through Old Town tomorrow

The rumble of more than 300 motorcycles traveling through Old Town Lewisville will fill the air tomorrow, around 1:25 p.m., as the 10th Anniversary of the 22Kill Ride, benefiting The One Tribe Foundation, comes to Lewisville.

The route brings the parade from Maverick Harley Davidson in Carrollton northbound on I-35E to Fox

Avenue. The riders will exit Fox and head east to Purnell, where they will take a short jaunt westbound on Purnell to Cowan. They will travel north on Cowan to Main Street, where they will turn east and roll through Old Town and back out to SH-121 Business.

The prime viewing areas for the motorcycle processional are anywhere along Main Street between Cowan and Mill.

Several streets and/or intersections will be closed from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday to accommodate this motorcycle parade.

The 22Kill Ride is one of many programs of the One Tribe Foundation - charged with promoting mental health options and programs for veterans. The ride was named from statistics published in a report by the Department of Veterans Affairs indicating that an average of 22 veterans die each day by their own hand. The numbers have improved slightly through the efforts of the One Tribe Foundation and other organizations charged with suicide prevention. Currently, the number is 17.6 veterans on average who die via suicide each day. Still, there is much work to be done and the One Tribe Foundation continues to raise awareness through events such as the 22 Kill Ride that a problem exists, and implores all Americans to educate themselves and be willing to help address the issues.
