As part of YSJ's commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, we took a meaningful step in 2025 by upgrading our security team's vehicle to an electric vehicle. But while the EV is efficient, it was also…very white and very plain. So we decided to make it something special.
We invited students at our PALS partner school, Loch Lomond Elementary, to put their creative caps on and show us - through art - what saving the planet and protecting nature means to them. The response was incredible. We received so many thoughtful and colourful submissions, making it no easy task to choose what would appear on the vehicle.
In the end, eight student artworks were selected and combined into a vibrant custom wrap for our EV. To celebrate all who took part, we also held a draw for a gift card for art supplies.
The students were absolutely thrilled to see their creations come to life on the vehicle - and we LOVE how the final design turned out. Now, their art is quite literally driving around the airport for everyone to enjoy, spreading a message of sustainability and creativity wherever it goes.
Artists whose work is featured on the vehicle: Leah Joyce Creamer, Truly Haley, Elsa Keating, Jillian McClure, Maddie Dickens, Addie Lent, Everett McGouey, Penny McKay and, on the far right in the photo, our art supply gift certificate winner, Riley Cyr!
A huge thank you to the students, teachers, and our PALS partners for helping us turn sustainability into something bright, joyful, and community-driven.
