Today, Rep. McClain Delaney posted the following statement:
"I sadly could not support the FY27 Ag Appropriations bill as it failed to support our farmers and rural communities counting on me to lower costs and expand opportunity.
"In MD-6, 1 in 9 families relies on SNAP, and nearly half of them are kids. This bill does nothing to address previous cuts to SNAP benefits and also cuts investments in rural broadband, business and energy investments that help connect our rural communities to jobs, education, and health care.
"Moreover, this bill includes divisive anti-LGBTQ+ provisions that have no place in a government funding bills. Hate should have no place in our country - and especially for our LGBTQ+ communities.
"That's why I voted NO. I urge my Senate colleagues to amend this legislation and deliver a bill that better meets the needs of the American people."
