STV Player is starting the year on a high, hitting an all-time monthly record of 16.4 million streams in January 2026, half a million more streams than the previous record of 15.9m set in November 2024.
The impressive performance is driven by strong network content and a rich mix of popular archive and acquired titles, enjoyed by loyal audiences and new visitors to the streaming service across the month.
Helping to deliver these numbers is the newly launched 'Soap Power Hour', which sees Emmerdale and Coronation Street air back-to-back from 8-9pm Monday to Friday, with the 7am drop on STV Player boosting streams by 59% compared with the same month last year.
New dramas After the Flood & Red Eye were hugely popular in January together delivering 2.6m streams; whilst specially acquired titles on the Player, US legal drama Murder One and Canadian police procedural, 19-2 both secured spots in the top ten best-watched shows.
STV Player success story, Brookside, which the business acquired in 2023 has averaged 1.2m streams across the last three months, maintaining streaming figures not seen since launch three years ago. The renewed interest in the show has no doubt been boosted by the recent Brookside/ Hollyoaks tie-up last October, but the legendary soap has been a consistent fan favourite on the streamer since launch, achieving over 36m streams to date and more than 800 episodes viewed.
