WHAT:
After three and a half years of construction and eight months of testing, the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension is reaching its final milestone before welcoming passengers. On Wednesday, October 8, city officials and project team members will officially sign the Safety and Security Certification Verification - the final step required before opening the line to public service.
This certification marks the culmination of years of planning, construction, and collaboration among city, federal, and safety oversight partners, ensuring the new 3.5-mile extension is fully tested and ready for safe, reliable service from the River Market to UMKC.
Members of the media are invited to attend and witness this key moment in Kansas City's transit history.
