UnitedHealthcare Launches New Direct-to-Consumer, Digital Shopping Experience

UnitedHealthcare today announced the launch of UHC Store, a new online shopping experience within the UnitedHealthcare® app and on myuhc.com®, now available to more than 6 million eligible UnitedHealthcare members with the aim of expanding to 18 million members this year.

With UHC Store, UnitedHealthcare members can choose from a range of discounted health and wellness offerings to help meet their individual needs and complement their health benefits. Offerings include popular weight loss programs, orthopedic management apps, women's health resources and more.

A simple, intuitive shopping experience

UHC Store builds on UnitedHealthcare's commitment to transform the way people interact with health care through a simple and supportive experience that mirrors what consumers expect from other industries like online shopping.

By accessing UHC Store, members may receive discounts on certain health and wellness offerings and can shop to help support their individual and family needs at any time throughout the year. Members save up to 15% on certain health, wellness and lifestyle offerings through UHC Store.

"Across UnitedHealthcare, we are listening to our members and clients to understand and address their expectations for health care," said Dan Kueter, CEO of UnitedHealthcare's commercial business. "We are developing solutions like UHC Store to drive positive change in the health system and improve people's experience with the ability to supplement their health benefits year-round."

At launch, UHC Store offers health and wellness offerings, including:

  • Everyday health offerings for women's health and mental health
  • Family wellness resources and support for family planning, caregiving, pregnancy and postpartum needs
  • Fitness and nutrition offerings for weight management, coaching, nutrition and fitness
  • Health coordination resources for complex or chronic conditions, such as autoimmune diseases, diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases, musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders and more

Aiming to transform health care by helping empower consumers

UHC Store is the latest resource from UnitedHealthcare that aims to transform the health care experience, in part, by leveraging advanced technology to help empower consumers with the capability, support and information to shop for health and wellness offerings.

"By responding to consumer and employer needs with tech-enabled solutions to help people shop for health and wellness offerings, we aim to offer better access and improve member experiences," said Samantha Baker, chief consumer officer of UnitedHealthcare's commercial business.

UnitedHealthcare is helping to address challenges in the health system for consumers and employers with solutions to help lower costs, improve access, and create a better member experience. For example:

  • UHC Hub is designed to help simplify the process of purchasing and managing vendor programs for employers. Since its inception in 2024, more than 60% of commercial self-insured customers have purchased from more than one vendor in the UHC Hub.
  • An analysis of large and mid-size employers shows UnitedHealthcare's enhanced customer resources reduced the total medical cost of care by up to 4% and increased enrollment in clinical programs by 14%.
  • New offerings that are driven by advanced technology and artificial intelligence (AI), like Smart Choice, are designed to enhance the provider search experience and give eligible UnitedHealthcare members greater transparency into their care options upfront.
  • The Surest health plan provides broad access and 44% lower out-of-pocket costs on average for members by empowering people to comparison shop for care within a simple digital experience that includes lower copays assigned to services for providers who historically offered higher-value care.
  • UnitedHealthcare has been working for years to help enhance member experiences with the responsible use of AI. UnitedHealth Group has 1,000 AI use cases in production, including within UnitedHealthcare's commercial business.
  • These applications include over 65 million customer calls that were initially answered by an AI chatbot in 2024;18 million AI-enabled searches to help customers find a doctor were conducted in the first quarter of 2025 alone.
    • With the Members Like You AI-powered cost estimates feature in the UnitedHealthcare (UHC) app, members can see demographic information, like gender and age, to get personalized, prioritized suggestions of services commonly used by other members on a similar care journey.
    • Conversational AI is UnitedHealthcare's intelligent virtual assistant, powered by AI. It can chat in real time and determine how best to provide support through self-service or a live agent.
    • The Claims Assistant AI model aims to improve the out-of-network claim submissions process for members. With its prompt engineering capabilities, this AI assistant simplifies the process by automatically populating all the medical field values, making payment submission faster and easier. Analysis of the program has shown that Claims Assistant has cut the time to completion of submitting out-of-network claims from 12-15 minutes down to three minutes.
    • When a member reaches out with a health care question, they're connected to an advocate to help. AI tools now support those experiences so the advocate can focus more on the member. AI can help answer questions for the advocate related to health benefit navigation, coverage information or costs for services. Examples include:
      • Welcome experience: Provides key member insights based on claims activity or previous calls to the advocate before the call to streamline authentication and personalize support.
      • In-call assist: Uses voice analytics to understand the member's needs and provides benefits, coverage and cost answers from the member's benefit plan.
      • In-call summarization: Summarizes the conversation so advocates can add the summary to the member's file; when they call back, the advocate doesn't have to spend a long time understanding the member's call history.
