Taft welcomes highly regarded employment litigator Roger G. Trim to its Denver office, strengthening the firm's practice and underscoring its growth in the region.
As a partner at the firm, Trim defends organizations in high stakes litigation involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, and noncompete disputes. He has successfully represented employers in cases arising under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act, the Colorado Wage Claim Act, the Montana Wrongful Discharge from Employment Act, and 42 U.S.C. § 1981, among others.
"Labor and employment law sits at the intersection of peoples' livelihoods and deeply personal issues, which is what makes the work both challenging and rewarding," said Trim. "With these matters, emotions run high, reputations are on the line, and the stakes are real for both employees and employers. I enjoy helping clients navigate those moments with clear, practical advice, finding solutions that are thoughtful and tactical."
Trim regularly represents employers before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, state civil rights agencies, the National Labor Relations Board, and the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. His client base spans a wide range of industries, including transportation, media, energy, technology, retail, manufacturing, logistics, real estate, electronics, healthcare, and financial services.
"We are thrilled for Roger to be joining our team," said Pat Miller, Taft's Mountain West Employment and Labor Relations Practice Group Chair. "He is the kind of lawyer clients turn to when the pressure is on. His experience across complex, high-stakes matters will strengthen our firm and enhance the value we deliver to employers navigating today's rapidly evolving workplace challenges."
"Roger is a standout employment litigator with a reputation for strategic advocacy and a deep understanding of the real-world challenges employers face," said Lyle Wallace, Taft Colorado and Nevada Partner-in-Charge. "His arrival strengthens our labor and employment bench in Denver and reflects our continued investment in building a premier, full-service platform in Colorado and across the region."
"Taft stood out to me because of its strong reputation, collaborative culture, and the opportunity to continue growing a sophisticated labor and employment practice on a national platform while remaining deeply connected to Denver," said Trim. "I had long admired the firm and when the opportunity arose, it felt like a natural fit. Taft offers the depth, resources, and people that allow me to do the same work I enjoy at a high level."
Effective Jan. 1, 2025, Taft combined with Sherman & Howard, Denver's oldest and third-largest firm, adding offices in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico. Since the merger announcement, the firm has welcomed 38 attorneys to its Colorado offices, deepening its bench in corporate, labor and employment, fintech, IP, litigation, private client, and domestic relations matters. Furthermore, the firm recently signed a lease at Block 162 in Denver, expanding its office to more than 100,000 square feet across three and a half floors. This significant growth reflects Taft's continued, long-term commitment to Colorado.
