In a proactive effort to strengthen the nation's digital security, under the direction of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the Chief of National Intelligence, the Defence Cyber Command (DCC) of the Ministry of Defence conducted its second Cybersecurity Awareness Program on 30 January (2026) for the staff of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, including national-level Women's and Child Unit officers from the Colombo and Gampaha Districts.
The event was held at the auditorium of Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla, and was organized in strategic alignment with the "Clean Sri Lanka" national initiative. This collaboration underscored the importance of maintaining a secure and resilient digital environment as a vital component of national development and digital integrity.
The primary objective of the program was to equip public sector officials with the knowledge and skills required to operate safely in an increasingly complex digital landscape. The comprehensive curriculum covered the current cybersecurity threat landscape, highlighting emerging digital risks, as well as digital hygiene and best practices for safeguarding information. In addition, the program addressed secure e-governance infrastructure, provided an overview of Sri Lanka's legal and policy framework for cyberspace, and concluded with practical demonstrations featuring real-world cyber threat scenarios and effective mitigation strategies.
The program was conducted by a team of technical experts led by the Director of the Defence Cyber Command. Demonstrating strong institutional support, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs was represented by its senior leadership, with the Secretary to the Ministry leading the delegation, accompanied by the Director General of Planning and Monitoring, the Director of Administration, and other senior officials. This engagement reflects a unified government commitment to protecting national digital assets and ensuring the security and resilience of information systems across all ministries.
