Frostburg State University's Department of Music, Theatre and Dance proudly presents the Senior Composition Recital of Zachary Inglish on Sunday, March 29, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public. It will also be livestreamed; the link is available at https://www.frostburg.edu/concerts.
The recital features faculty and student performers interpreting a program of original works composed by Inglish. Each piece tells its own unique story, drawing inspiration from video games, nature and diverse musical genres.
The program is as follows: "The Cycle" Dr. Brent Weber (soprano saxophone) and Dr. Joseph Yungen (piano); "Contradiction" Alex Frye (euphonium), Deandre Cook and Connor Curtis (trombone), Zachary Inglish (bass trombone), Douglas Holtz (tuba), Dr. Mackenzie Jacob LaMont (conductor); "At the End of the Hallway" Marimba Quartet: Jacob Deaver, Dr. Mackenzie LaMont, Gavin Baker and Daniel Hicks; "Access Denied" FSU String Ensemble and Percussion.
Inglish's composition instructor is Dr. Mackenzie Jacob LaMont. He also thanks earlier FSU low brass instructors Joshua Bishop and Abby Lannan.
Inglish, a native of the Cumberland, Md., area and a 2021 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He is the son of Jason Inglish of LaVale, Md., and Kristin Inglish of Cumberland, Md. Inglish anticipates earning a bachelor's degree in music studies from FSU in Fall 2026. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a master's degree in composition, with the long-term goal of writing music for television, movies and video games.
