On Tuesday, December 16th, Acting Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, participated in the Ukraine Defence Contact Group Meeting, via videoconference. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghiță Vlad, also participated in the activity.
The discussions focused on the developments in the security situation generated by the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine, as well as on ways to consolidate international support for this country.
The Group members reconfirmed their strong commitment to supporting Ukraine on multiple fronts, including through contributions to NATO and EU's joint initiatives, as well as through bilateral assistance and support. The officials also stressed the importance of unity and coordination between Allies and partners in providing assistance, as well as the need to maintain long-term support.
Romania's participation in the Ukraine Defence Contact Group Meeting reflects our country's solidarity with the Ukrainian people and its commitment to defending democratic values and regional stability.
