Rep. Scholten Announces $367K for Corewell Health in Grand Rapids

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Representative Hillary Scholten (D-MI-03) announced Corewell Health in Grand Rapids will receive $367,620 in federal support. The award is through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Healthy Start Initiative, which helps improve health outcomes for pregnant women, their partners, and babies up to 18 months old.

"Every parent and child deserves access to quality, reliable health care," said Rep. Scholten. "Corewell Health provides critical health services to the Grand Rapids community, and I'm proud to announce this well-deserved funding to support their efforts. I will continue working hard in Congress to deliver federal resources to our region and expand access to affordable health care for all Michiganders."

This funding reflects Rep. Scholten's ongoing work to bring federal investment back to Michigan's Third Congressional District and strengthen the region's health care infrastructure. Additionally, Rep. Scholten leads an annual appropriations request for increased funding for the Healthy Start Initiative, which would reduce federal costs for expensive neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) medical treatments that preterm and low-birthweight infants often require, as well as spending on Medicaid, special education, and other social services for infants born with special health care needs.
