Over the past year, the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital ER cared for 32,670 patients, serving as a vital lifeline to the local community.
The $280,000 investment reflects the hospital's continued commitment to meeting the needs of our patients and community. That dedication is recognized through its designation as a U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital, a CMS 5-Star facility and a Leapfrog "Straight A" hospital.
"For our team members, this work is deeply personal," said Stacey Osborne, DNP, RN, vice president and chief nursing officer of Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. "Every step we take to enhance care for our patients and community truly matters. For many of us, this work is special - we grew up in our communities, and some of us were even born here at this hospital. It's a place that means a great deal to us because we care for our family members, friends and neighbors."
The ER renovations elevate the care provided by incorporating advanced technology into the new space.
Staff had the opportunity to tour the new area on May 11 before it officially opened - and by the end of the celebration, the rooms were already in use, serving patients in need.
The transition to the expanded space has been a team effort since early 2025.
"We appreciate all the hard work of our teams at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital who made this transformation possible," Osborne said. "They've played a critical role in bringing the project to life."
