Motor Fuel Prices – August 2026

Today, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released monthly motor fuels prices for August 2026.

In August 2026, the average price for regular motor gasoline was $4.06 per gallon; up 3.2% from July 2026 and up 29.5% from August 2025.

By region, the average price for regular motor gasoline in August 2026 was and year-over-year change:

• West Coast: $5.13 (up 26.6%)
• Rocky Mountain: $4.23 (up 34.3%)
• Central Atlantic: $4.09 (up 30.9%)
• New England: $4.02 (up 31.9%)
• Midwest: $3.89 (up 28.6%)
• Lower Atlantic: $3.77 (up 29.4%)
• Gulf Coast: $3.61 (up 32.9%)

The average price for diesel no. 2 was $5.46 in August 2026, up 10.2% from July 2026, and up 45.9% from August 2025.
