RK Industries Announces Major Expansion in Aurora, Colorado, Bringing 1,786 New Jobs

AURORA - Today, Governor Polis, the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), and the Aurora Economic Development Council announced that RK Industries LLC, a Colorado-based leader in construction, manufacturing, advanced fabrication, and building services solutions, announced plans to expand its operations in Aurora, Colorado. The 154,488-square-foot facility will house RK Industries' headquarters and four of the company's eight businesses: RK Industries, RK Mechanical, RK Service, and RK Electrical, along with RK Foundation.

"Colorado is the best place to work and play. We are thrilled to see RK Industries expand in Colorado, which helps grow our state's thriving advanced manufacturing industry and create 1,786 good-paying jobs for Coloradans," said Governor Polis.

The Aurora Economic Development Council, in partnership with OEDIT, the City of Aurora and Adams County, worked closely with RK Industries for more than two years to make this expansion a reality. Efforts included site selection, incentive negotiations, workforce development strategies, and acting as a liaison with government entities throughout the process.

"Relocating our headquarters to Aurora isn't just about expanding our footprint in Colorado, it's about expanding opportunity. We're projecting to create over 1,700 good-paying jobs over the next eight years, investing heavily in workforce training, and strengthening the communities where our employees live and work," said Jon Kinning, Chief Operating Officer of RK Industries.

RK Industries chose Colorado for the existing strong roots in the state and its robust advanced manufacturing sector. The company expects to create over 1,700 new jobs over the next eight years, with significant annual wages for Adams County. With a legacy dating back to 1995, RK continues to lead in workforce development through its accredited apprenticeship programs in seven skilled trades-ranging from electrical and plumbing to HVAC services and welding-addressing the growing shortage of skilled labor critical to Colorado's economy.

"Colorado's well-connected advanced manufacturing sector is a key driver of our economy, and RK Industries' expansion in Aurora will significantly strengthen these industries while creating valuable jobs in this advanced manufacturing and skilled trade sector," said OEDIT Executive Director Eve Lieberman.

The expansion is projected to create the highest number of jobs of any company approved for a Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit (JGITC) by the Economic Development Commission in 2025. These incentives are contingent upon RK Industries, referred to as Project Split throughout the OEDIT review process, meeting net new job creation and salary requirements. Aurora's concierge-level approach, coupled with the fact that RK Industries has two established facilities in Aurora with an additional factory in Henderson, Adams County and nearly half of RK's workforce already resides in the city, made Aurora the natural choice for the company's new headquarters despite strong competing sites from Texas and Arizona.

"The Aurora Economic Development Council supported RK Industries through every step of the process of selecting a new headquarters location," said Wendy Mitchell, President and CEO of the Aurora Economic Development Council. "This relocation and expansion reflects how we were able to match RK Industries' business needs with Aurora's strengths and assets."

"Aurora is proud to welcome RK Industries' headquarters," added Jason Batchelor, Aurora City Manager. "With so many of their employees already calling Aurora home, this is the perfect fit for RK Industries and our community. Companies like RK are providing meaningful careers in skilled trades and manufacturing. This meets a growing demand in advanced manufacturing and construction. We look forward to a long-term relationship with this major employer."

"This is a huge win for Adams County and the entire region," said Commissioner Lynn Baca, Chair of the Adams County Board of Commissioners. "These are high-quality jobs with excellent wages and full benefits that will strengthen our economy and community for years to come."

RK Industries' decision to establish its headquarters in Aurora demonstrates both confidence in the city's future and the strength of Colorado's construction and advanced manufacturing sector. With a reputation as a trusted, homegrown company and a proven partner to industries ranging from healthcare to data centers, RK's investment underscores the region's ability to attract and retain high-value employers. This project not only secures long-term economic benefits for Aurora and Adams County but also reinforces Colorado's position as a leader in innovation, workforce development, and sustainable growth.
