Student-Athletes Teach Kids About First Aid, Physical Fitness on LoMaglio Day of Service

They walked more than 50 children in grades K-5 through a number of athletic stations at Al-Marzook Field on the University of Hartford campus, as part of the annual LoMaglio Day of Community Service and Citizenship.

The youngsters were given pointers about sports including baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, track and field, field hockey, tennis, and volleyball. This year, the event also featured a station where participants made two first aid kits-one for themselves, and one to donate to Hands On Hartford.

"LoMaglio Day is a great opportunity for UHart Athletics to get involved with the community," said Andrea Buzas '26, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which organizes the event. "As an athlete, I love attending and teaching these up-and-coming players about the sport I love. This event is not only engaging for the kids, but also for all the athletes that volunteer."
