Published: June 22, 2026

FREEPORT, Maine - [June 22, 2026] - Wilder today announced that Patriot Cinemas has opened a new six-screen movie theater at Freeport Village Station, bringing a highly anticipated entertainment experience to downtown Freeport. A family-owned, independent theater operator serving Massachusetts and Maine since 1962, Patriot Cinemas will occupy a 15,700-square-foot space at the center.

The new theater will feature first-run films along with community-oriented programming, helping to reinforce Freeport Village Station Outlets as a vibrant, all-day, year-round destination.

"The opening of this movie theater is an exciting milestone for Freeport Village Station Outlets and the broader community," said Ryan Feinberg, Senior Vice President of Leasing at Wilder. "Patriot Cinemas brings a high-quality, locally rooted entertainment experience that will enhance the customer visit, extend time on site, and contribute to the energy of downtown Freeport."

The addition of Patriot Cinemas builds on strong leasing momentum at the center, with recent openings including Ben & Jerry's, Verizon, and Clarks, alongside established brands such as Coach, Old Navy Outlet, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, and the L.L.Bean Outlet.

"The movie theater to the Downtown has long been a shared goal," said Tawny Whitney, Director of Business Development at Freeport Economic Development Corp and Executive Director of the Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce. "Working alongside Wilder, we were able to demonstrate strong demand for an entertainment anchor that supports year-round activity and strengthens the evening economy."

"Patriot Cinemas has always believed that movie theaters play an important role in the life of a community, and we're thrilled to bring that experience to Freeport," said David Scott, President and Owner of Patriot Cinemas. "This opportunity continues the legacy my parents began in 1962 - creating welcoming, community-focused theaters where people gather year-round. We are proud to partner with Wilder and the Freeport community to reestablish this space as a vibrant destination for residents and visitors."

Freeport Village Station is located directly across from L.L.Bean's flagship campus, which is currently undergoing a $50 million redevelopment expected to be completed in Fall 2026. Together, these investments reflect continued momentum in downtown Freeport, with a focus on enhancing walkability, public spaces, and overall connectivity.
