Chairwoman McClain Votes to Fund America First Agenda, Deliver Peace Through Strength

WASHINGTON-House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) today voted to pass a two-bill appropriations package for Fiscal Year 2026 that advances Republican priorities, reins in Washington spending, and reverses the damage caused by years of failed Biden-era leadership.

With passage of the Financial Services and General Government and the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act of 2026, House Republicans have passed 8 full-year funding bills.

"House Republicans are once again proving that funding responsible, America First policies delivers results," Chairwoman McClain said. "This bill ensures America stands strong against our enemies and defends our values without asking hardworking families to foot the bill for failed woke experiments. We are turning the page on reckless Biden policies and putting our nation back on a path of strength, security, and accountability, all while cutting spending."

Highlights from each section of the bill are below:

Financial Services and General Government:

• Prohibits the IRS from targeting individuals for exercising their First Amendment rights.
• Maintains "Buy American" provisions that maximize the federal government's use of services, goods, products, and materials produced and offered in the United States.
• Ensures the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States has the tools to adequately scrutinize foreign investment by countries like China.
• Protects Americans from deadly drugs like fentanyl by investing in the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program.

National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs:

• Cuts 16% or $9.3 billion in wasteful spending.
• Supports President Trump's America First foreign policy by eliminating wasteful spending on DEI or woke programming, climate change mandates, and divisive gender ideologies.
• Eliminates funding for Biden-era executive orders on climate, gender, DEI, and extraneous or irrelevant programs that run contrary to an America First foreign policy.
• Increases support for religious freedom programs and demanding religious freedom protections for faith-based organizations.
