San Francisco - Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the passing of legendary music mogul Clive Davis:
"Paul and I were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Clive Davis - a dear friend and a giant in American culture whose influence reached far beyond the music industry. For decades, Clive brought together artists, leaders, and people from every walk of life through a shared belief in the power of music to inspire, unite, and uplift.
"I will always treasure the opportunities to spend time with Clive over the years, especially at his legendary pre-Grammy gatherings, where his warmth, generosity of spirit, and unmatched passion for discovering and nurturing talent were on full display. His legacy also extends beyond the extraordinary careers he helped build. Clive understood that music and the arts have the power to bridge divides, elevate voices, and bring people together in ways few other forces can. He was a champion of causes larger than himself, including the fight against HIV/AIDS, using his platform to make a difference in the lives of others.
"The world has lost an extraordinary visionary, but generations to come will continue to hear Clive's impact every time they listen to the music he helped bring into our lives. Paul and I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless artists whose lives he touched. May it be a comfort to his children, grandchildren and the entire Davis family that so many are mourning with them at this sad time and that Clive's remarkable legacy will endure."
