Deceased driver identified from fatal crash at Dublin Boulevard and Cloud Dancer Drive

On October 26, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a call for service regarding a traffic crash at Dublin Boulevard and Cloud Dancer Drive. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the driver of the first involved vehicle was deceased. Due to the nature of the crash, the CSPD Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the first vehicle involved had lost control, exited the roadway, and struck a tree in the center median. A second vehicle had been sideswiped by the first vehicle prior to it leaving the roadway. No injuries were reported from the single occupant of the second vehicle.

On October 28, 2025, the El Paso Coroner's Office performed an autopsy on the deceased driver. He was identified as 21-year-old Richard Bayne Jr.

This was the 48th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were 50 traffic fatalities. In the past 365 days, there have been 54 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
