WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) released the following statement after voting for H.Con.Res.86, a House Concurrent Resolution directing the President to remove U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities with Iran, after the measure passed the House of Representatives earlier this month by a vote of 215-208. The Senate passed the Resolution today by a vote of 50-48.
"Today, the Senate voted to end the Iran War. Now, according to law, the President must withdraw our troops from this reckless war of choice.
"Americans are finally being heard in Congress. For months they have been clear: this war must end. Today, a few Republicans did the right thing, and we acted.
"Now, with this vote, it is time for this President to obey the law, bring our service members home, end this war, and finally start working to lower our costs."
