New Ambassadors present Credentials

Her Excellency, Sharon Swee Peng Ho, Ambassador of Malaysia, Her Excellency, Genevieve A. Kennedy, Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency, Jovilisi Vulailai Suveinakama, Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji, and Her Excellency, Rosa Margarita Hernández de Grullón, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic presented their Letters of Credence to President Catherine Connolly at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

Her Excellency, Sharon Swee Peng Ho, Ambassador of Malaysia was accompanied by Ms. Intan Nadia Ramli, Counsellor, Embassy of Malaysia.

Her Excellency, Genevieve A. Kennedy, Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia was accompanied by Mr. Nathan Kpao, First Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Liberia.

His Excellency, Jovilisi Vulailai Suveinakama, Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji was accompanied by his spouse, Ms. Nancy Veilesiyaki Loren Evans and by Ms. Liebling Smith Honorary Consul, Embassy of the Republic of Fiji.

Her Excellency, Rosa Margarita Hernández de Grullón, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic was accompanied by Mr. Carlos José Espaillat, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the Dominican Republic.

Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration with special responsibility for International Law, Law Reform and Youth Justice, Catherine Ardagh TD, attended on behalf of the Government.

The following were also present: Ms. Orla O'Hanrahan, Secretary General to the President; Mr. John Conlan, Deputy Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mr. John Lynam, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms Rachel Fleming, Assistant Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms. Anita Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms Niamh Kelly, Assistant Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Colonel Tom McGrath, Captain Niamh FitzGerald and Captain Conor McNally, Aides-de-Camp to the President.

The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Dillon McAuliffe.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 1 Infantry Battalion, Renmore Barracks, Co. Galway under the command of Lieutenant Conor O'Brien.

Second Lieutenant Andrew Sheffield from 1 Infantry Battalion, Renmore Barracks, Co. Galway was the Flag Officer.

Captain John Carpenter conducted the Army No 1 Band which is based in Cathal Brugha Barracks, Rathmines, Dublin.
