Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Val Hoyle announced her selected community projects that were submitted to the U.S. House Appropriations Committee as candidates to receive funding for Fiscal Year 2027.
"These 20 projects reflect what local communities actually need-they know best," said Rep. Hoyle. "If funded, these projects will upgrade infrastructure, advance emergency and disaster response and promote workforce development."
Each House Member was allowed to submit 20 community projects to be considered for federal funding on behalf of their congressional district to the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. The Committee will now work to consider what projects to include in future appropriations bills. The projects Rep. Hoyle selected have strong community support and were able to demonstrate to her office their value and benefit to Oregon's Fourth Congressional District.

BENTON COUNTY
Oregon Fire Testing Facility - Corvallis, OR - $1,434,490 - Funding would be used by Oregon State University to support the purchase, installation, calibration and commissioning of essential equipment, including a furnace monitoring camera system, calorimetry instruments to analyze smoke particulate and other critical tools.
Mary's Peak Regional Public Safety Training Facility - Philomath, OR - $2,000,000 - Funding would be used by Philomath Fire & Rescue for property acquisition, site preparation and construction of a training facility for career and volunteer fire and rescue professionals.
COOS COUNTY
Bay Area Critical Capital Equipment - Coos Bay, OR - $4,000,000 - Funding would be used to replace the Bay Area Hospital's CT scanner and cardiac catheterization lab equipment.
Charleston Shipyard Work Dock Restoration and Enhancement - Charleston, OR - $2,000,000 - Funding would be used by the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay to restore work dock infrastructure used for commercial and recreational fishing vessel repair and maintenance.
CURRY COUNTY
Working Waterfront Dredge Replacement - Port Orford, OR - $965,000 - Funding would be used by the Port of Port Orford to replace an aging portable dredge and related supporting infrastructure to maintain a safe navigation channel for commercial fishing vessels.
Curry County Communications Tower Infrastructure Replacement - Gold Beach, OR - $1,750,000 - Funding would be used to replace and upgrade Curry County's failing VHF radio network, modernize the microwave backhaul system that supports dispatch audio and data, and deploy a secure, interoperable dispatch console platform that meets current cybersecurity and performance standards. It would also restore a fully operational tsunami warning and mass notification system for coastal communities in the Cascadia impact zone.
DOUGLAS COUNTY
South 22nd Street Housing Readiness Project - Reedsport, OR - $732,900 - Funding would be used for engineering, environmental review and construction of approximately 250 linear feet of new public roadway and utility infrastructure on South 22nd Street in Reedsport to enable water, sewer, storm drainage and street access needed to support development of approximately 59 new housing units.
Regional Evacuation Shelter and Emergency Operations Center - Oakland, OR - $2,000,000 - Funding would be used by North Douglas County Fire & EMS to construct a regional evacuation shelter and emergency operations center in case of wildfire, flooding, severe winter storms, prolonged power outages or any other disaster response.
Rural Emergency Communications Reliability Project - Roseburg, OR - $1,800,000 - Funding would be used by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office to acquire and install interoperable radio equipment, including repeaters, antennas and related system components, at existing rural communications sites to improve communications in areas where gaps can slow coordination and compromise safety.
Childcare Access Initiative - Roseburg, OR - $1,000,000 - Funding would be used by Umpqua Community College to construct a new licensed child care facility for infants, toddlers and preschoolers
Sewer Line Restoration - Reedsport, OR - $500,000 - Funding would be used by Lower Umpqua Hospital District to support an infrastructure upgrade of the 400-foot sewer line servicing the hospital.
LANE COUNTY
Dorena Fire Station Development Project - Dorena, OR - $1,900,000 - Funding would be used by Row River Fire Response to construct a fire station to support timely fire response in the unincorporated Row River Valley.
Eugene Airport Improvement Project - Eugene, OR - $3,000,000 - Funding would be used for the design and initial construction of a new aircraft apron at Eugene Airport, including taxi lane pavement, grading, drainage, lighting and airfield markings, which are required to support the expansion of Concourse C.
Emergency Respite Center - Springfield, OR - $2,738,200 - Funding would be used by Willamalane Park & Recreation District to establish a multi-purpose community emergency respite center in Springfield through targeted capital improvements to the existing facility. This investment will provide emergency shelter from wildfires, poor air quality, extreme weather, power outages and other large-scale emergencies.
Water Distribution System Upgrade Project - Mapleton, OR - $1,474,400 - Funding would be used by Mapleton Water District to replace approximately 2,500 feet of failing asbestos concrete water distribution line with High-Density Polyethylene pipe.
Fare Modernization and Integration Project - Springfield, OR - $1,031,328 - Funding would be used by Lane Transit District to the replace an outdated fare collection system throughout Lane County with one that allows additional payment options, increased efficiency, simple and predictable fares, and the ability to reduce costs for users.
Pioneer Valley Estates Water Distribution System Replacement - Coburg, OR - $700,000 - Funding would be used to replace an outdated water distribution system for a 38-home rural subdivision that routinely breaks and leaks.
LINCOLN COUNTY
Nye Beach Pump Station Modernization Project - Newport, OR - $1,000,000 - Funding would be used to upgrade the Nye Beach Pump Station by enlarging the existing wet well and installing larger pumps to address capacity limitations that can result in wastewater overflows.
Port of Newport South Beach Dredging - Newport, OR - $750,000 - Funding would be used to dredge all the berths and docks north of the South Beach Marina boat ramp located along the south shore of Yaquina Bay in Newport.
Oregon Coast EMS Training Ambulance Initiative - Lincoln City, OR - $433,540 - Funding would be used to equip a fully functional training ambulance that allows EMT and paramedic students at Oregon Coast Community College to practice hands-on transport skills in realistic conditions.
