Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will attend the annual Nordic-African Foreign Ministers' Meeting (NAFM) in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, on 2-3 October 2025.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will also have bilateral discussions with African foreign ministers during the NAFM. The three broad themes on the meeting agenda are multilateral cooperation, peace and security, and trade and investments. The previous NAFM meeting was held in Copenhagen in 2024 and the one before that in Alger in 2023.
Zimbabwe will organise a youth panel in connection with the meeting, and a Finnish youth delegate will be among the panellists. The Finnish delegation will also include a business representative.
"We aim to increase political and economic cooperation and trade and investments between the Nordic and African countries. We share a common goal to foster stability, prosperity, peace, and security in Africa, because they have an impact for the future and security of both Africa and Europe. The partnership between the Nordic and African countries provides Finland with a channel to advance international law and promote multilateral cooperation. This is also important in view of Finland's candidacy for membership of the UN Security Council for 2029-2030," Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen says.
