The Valdosta Police Department (VPD) is proud to announce the return of its Stand Against Youth Violence Education (S.A.Y.V.E.) initiative, a proactive program designed to equip teens with the knowledge, awareness, and real-life skills needed to navigate today's challenges and make positive choices.
The week-long program will take place July 13-17, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the City Hall Annex Multipurpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street.
S.A.Y.V.E. is open to teens ages 13 to 16 and will feature interactive sessions led by experienced VPD officers. Topics will include bullying prevention, gang awareness, substance abuse, firearms safety, conflict resolution, and the importance of mentorship. Through open conversations and real-world insight, participants will gain practical tools to build confidence, strengthen decision-making skills, and foster positive peer relationships.
"Programs like S.A.Y.V.E. are about more than education, they're about connection," said Chief Leslie Manahan. "We want our young people to feel seen, supported, and empowered to make positive decisions. By building relationships and having honest conversations, we're helping shape a safer, stronger future for our community."
Beyond the classroom, the program is designed to create meaningful connections between youth and law enforcement, helping to build trust and encourage mentorship within the community.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily to ensure participants are energized and fully engaged throughout the program. Space is limited, and early registration is strongly encouraged.
