Governor Kotek Responds to Legal Analysis on Transportation Repeal

Today, Governor Tina Kotek issued a statement in response to updated legal analysis from the Oregon Legislature concluding that repealing House Bill 3991 through legislative action would be unconstitutional and that the measure must instead be referred to voters. Earlier legal analysis relied on by the Legislature had concluded the bill could be repealed through legislative action.

"Two weeks ago, I was clear with Oregonians about transportation: we must redirect, repeal, and rebuild," Governor Kotek said. "The legislature and the constitution will determine how and when repeal occurs. My responsibility remains the same: keep our roads safe, our economy moving, and help deliver a bipartisan long-term transportation solution."
