Posted on October 26, 2026

COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 26, 2026) - South Carolina has set a new record for early voting in a gubernatorial election. As of 3 p.m. today, nearly 564,000 ballots had been cast during the early voting period for the 2026 Statewide General Election.

The previous record for a gubernatorial election was set during the 2022 General Election, when 561,563 ballots were cast early. The all-time record was set in the 2024 Presidential election with 1,471,663 ballots cast early.

Early voting continues through Saturday, October 31, giving voters who have not yet cast their ballots an opportunity to vote before Election Day. Early voting centers are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

County by county early voting statistics can be found here.

Voters can find their designated early voting centers by visiting scVOTES.gov or contacting their county voter registration and elections office. Voters can cast their ballots at an early voting center just as they would on Election Day.

Voters must present an acceptable Photo ID when checking in to vote. A list of acceptable forms of Photo ID is available at scVOTES.gov.
