On March 2, Ambassador Monika Simonyan was received by Ms. Ayano Kunimitsu, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Congratulating State Minister Kunimitsu on her reappointment, Ambassador Simonyan noted that bilateral political and economic relations between Armenia and Japan are consistently developing, and, to maintain the dynamics, mutual high-level visits, as well as the proper coordination of potential, are of primary importance.
State Minister Kunimitsu touched upon issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation, also emphasizing the importance of continuing effective cooperation within international organizations.
The parties exchanged views on the security situation in the region and efforts aimed at establishing peace in the South Caucasus. Ambassador Simonyan presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project, initiated by the Government of Armenia, and developments aimed at implementing the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) project.
Referring to the initialized peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, State Minister Kunimitsu expressed hope that it will be signed as soon as possible and that the problems in the region will be resolved peacefully and forever.
