The Reno City Council accepted a $25,000 donation from Grace Church for the Reno Police Department's Mobile Outreach Safety Team (MOST) program. The donation is part of Grace Church's
"For the One" campaign, which supports community mental health efforts.
"I'd like to thank Grace Church for this generous donation to support the Reno Police Department's MOST program," said Ward 5 Councilmember Devon Reese. "It's great to see a local organization invest in important mental health response and referral efforts for our community, and I look forward to the positive impact this contribution will make."
"We're so thankful for this donation from Grace Church, as it will help support the vital mental health services provided by the Mobile Outreach Safety Team," said Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance. "Providing our officers with the right the tools allows them to better serve our community members in need and respond more effectively during mental health crises."
"Grace Church is honored to partner with the City of Reno and the Reno Police Department in support of our community," said Pastor Shane Marks. "Over the past two years, our church has prioritized mental health through our For The One initiative, and serving our community has always been a key part of who we are. We believe this donation represents the beginning of a strong, ongoing relationship focused on serving and caring for the people of Reno."
The MOST program brings together police officers and licensed mental health professionals through a co-responder model to better serve people in crisis. The team responds to calls involving mental health issues, substance use and homelessness, providing on-scene support during emergencies and helping connect individuals to follow-up services and resources afterward. MOST also connects individuals with local resources by working closely with the city's Community Action Outreach Division.
The program is primarily funded through the city's general fund, along with grants and community donations such as this one. The donation will support additional MOST training opportunities and an equipment purchase to improve field documentation, case management, and operational efficiency.
In addition to RPD's MOST program, the department launched the
Mental Health Online Registry (MHOR) in October 2025. The MHOR provides first responders with voluntarily submitted information about individuals who may experience a mental health crisis.
