Pirelli and Toyota are renewing their top-level collaboration in North American rallying. The new Toyota GR Corolla Rally RC2, developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing for the RC2 category of the American Rally Association (ARA), will make its debut this weekend at the 100 Acre Wood Rally, the second round of the season.
Derived from the road-going GR Corolla and developed with the contribution of Jari-Matti Latvala and Juho Hänninen, the car marks the return of the Corolla name to international rallying and will be driven by American Seth Quintero, who will contest the remaining rounds of the championship.
Development of the car took place using the new Pirelli AT Scorpion gravel tires, which will be used throughout the American season. This latest evolution of the Scorpion range has been designed to further enhance the reliability and performance of a tire family already widely appreciated in the World Rally Championship.
Terenzio Testoni, Rally Activity Manager at Pirelli, said:
"It's a pleasure to see our collaboration with Toyota renewed in American rallying with a technically exciting project such as the Toyota GR Corolla Rally RC2. The ARA championship is a top-level series that adds to the many rally and GT programs supplied by Pirelli around the world. We are ready to bring our experience to support Toyota in this new challenge."
With the debut of the GR Corolla Rally RC2, Toyota further strengthens its presence in global rallying while helping to support the growth of the sport in North America, where the Corolla is already available as a rally-inspired performance road car.
