Fatal Structure Fire Claims Life of One Man, Dog in East Hollywood

The lives of an 80-year-old man and his dog were claimed Sunday afternoon by a house fire in East Hollywood.

LAFD crews responded at 3:02 PM to a reported structure fire at a one-story, single-family home located at 1323 North Kenmore Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find fire showing from one room of the residence.

Following initial reports of possible persons trapped, firefighters prioritized a search of the structure. The adult male victim and a dog were quickly located inside the home, but firefighters on scene sadly determined both beyond medical intervention.

The fire was brought under control approximately 22 minutes after the 911 call. No surrounding structures were threatened over the course of the incident.

In accordance with protocol for fatal fires, LAPD, LAFD Arson investigators, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner were attached to the incident. The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
