San Rafael Fire Department to Host Community Tribute Honoring the Lives Lost on September 11 SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The San Rafael Fire Department will host a community tribute honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and recognizing the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call that day 25 years ago.
The tribute will take place at Lauren's Place on 4th Street in San Rafael from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on September 11, 2026. Community members are invited to join San Rafael firefighters, public safety personnel, and local residents as we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and the thousands of first responders who put themselves in harm's way.
September 11 remains a defining moment in the history of the fire service and our nation. For firefighters, the day carries a particularly profound meaning. The 343 members of the New York City Fire Department who died that day demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to duty and service, responding when others were fleeing danger.
"This is an opportunity for our community to come together, remember those we lost, and honor the courage and selflessness demonstrated by first responders on September 11," said San Rafael Fire Chief Abraham Roman. "Their sacrifice continues to remind us of the importance of service, community, and looking out for one another."
The San Rafael Fire Department welcomes community members of all ages to attend the tribute, share in a moment of remembrance, and stand together in honoring the lives and legacy of those affected by September 11. Community members are invited to stop by throughout the day to:
