At 105, Kathryn Lacy Mitchell Shows Up Five Days a Week at Oak Cliff Senior Center

WellMed Senior Activity Center Celebrates Its Oldest Participant

What

Kathryn Lacy Mitchell remains active by attending programs and activities at the City of Dallas' WellMed Senior Activity Center five days a week. The Oak Cliff center provides senior adults with diverse opportunities to stay physically and mentally active, socialize, and learn new skills. At 105, her regular attendance highlights the important role community recreation programs play in enhancing seniors' quality of life.

Next month, the Dallas Park and Recreation Department and WellMed will celebrate the retired Dallas ISD educator in honor of her 105th birthday and commitment to active aging. As the center's oldest participant, Mitchell demonstrates how programs created especially for older adults help them remain healthy, engaged, and connected to their peers.
