Celebrate Alexandria’s Arts Community at the First-Ever State of Arts ALX Event

The City of Alexandria's Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities - Office of Arts invites residents, artists, arts professionals, and community leaders to the very first State of Arts ALX event on Wednesday, October 15 at 8:30 a.m. at the Boeing Auditorium, Virginia Tech Innovation Campus (3625 Potomac Ave.)

"This curated forum celebrates Alexandria's vibrant arts community by showcasing the work of the Office of the Arts and honoring the individuals and organizations that shape the city's creative landscape," said Diane Ruggerio, Deputy Director of Cultural Activities, RPCA. "This event is designed for artists and their art's missions to be seen."

Attendees can expect networking opportunities, tabling from local arts organizations, refreshments, and a showcase of recent arts highlights from across the city.

The program will feature keynote speaker Jen Goold, Executive Director for the Neighborhood Design Center, an organization that supports the growth of healthy, equitable neighborhoods through community-engaged design and planning services.

Attendees will also hear from Alexandria Poet Laureate Maria Cristina Donoso, enjoy AV displays capturing the many successes and milestones in the local arts scene, and engage in networking opportunities with local arts organizations. In addition, the City of Alexandria's Vice Mayor Sarah Bagley will be in attendance.

State of Arts ALX is free and open to the public. Reserve your spotby completing the RSVP form. Artists, arts organizations, board members, elected officials, and community stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
