The City of Fairfield's Information Technology Department is joining communities across the country in recognizing Digital Inclusion Week (DIW), an annual week of awareness, recognition, and celebration organized by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) and its affiliates.
This year's theme, "Sustain, Empower, Evolve: Building a Brighter Digital Future," highlights the importance of investing in communities, building digital skills, and adapting to new technologies to create a more inclusive digital future.
Throughout the week, City staff and partners will participate in free events connecting residents and community members with technology resources, hands-on learning opportunities, and information about technology careers:
Tech Help Pop-Up Kiosk - Stop by the Civic Center Library (1150 Kentucky Street) Monday, October 5 between 10am to 1pm to meet City IT staff and get assistance with your phone, tablet or laptop.
Hands-On Technology Workshop - On Wednesday October 7 from 2:30pm-4:30pm, eligible older adults and adults with disabilities can participate in a free, hands-on workshop with digitalLIFT. Bring your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. This event will be held at the Adult Recreation Center Christiansen Room 1200 Harry Price Drive.
Digital inclusion means having access to the internet, devices, and digital skills needed to participate in today's connected world.
