Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation invites the surrounding community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of two new bocce ball courts in Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park on Wednesday, May 14, at 4 p.m. The ceremony will take place at 11500 Yamato Road, west of Boca Raton, off Cypress Pond Loop, next to the restroom building.
The courts were thoughtfully placed to allow easy access from walkways and nearby parking areas. New sidewalks connect the courts to existing paths, and a central gathering space with benches encourages relaxation and socializing.
The project included the removal of an existing berm to improve access and address drainage concerns. Designers carefully planned the court placement to preserve trees and avoid existing infrastructure, creating a natural fit within the park's landscape.
" This is another example of how we listen to our residents and continue to improve recreational offerings across the county," said Jennifer Cirillo, Director of the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department. "We welcome our residents and visitors to enjoy the game and spend time outdoors."
T he courts feature a design similar to those at Governor Lawton Chiles Memorial Park and add to the growing number of recreation options available at the regional park.
